Taxonomy/phylogeny:

Within the genus Plesiomonas, only one species have been described and this bacterium belongs to the family Enterobacteriaceae. P. shigelloides is not that closely related to other members of the family Enterobacteriaceae, which is in accordance with the fact that it is the only member of the family Enterobacteriaceae, which is oxidase positive.
Comment:Note: is the only member of the family Enterobacteriaceae, which is oxidase positive.
